I often title posts after songs that I was listening to during the workout, but there wasn't any Mighty Mighty Bosstones this morning. Instead, I have to answer for why there haven't been any posts for the last two days. Well, as it turns out, I'm the worst taperer of all time. Before Disney, I caught the flu. Before Muskoka, I wrecked my foot. This time, I've caught a bad cold that's kept me from work for two days, and I was just able to drag myself onto the trainer for an easy spin this morning. I guess if I can get back to normal, at least I'll be fully rested next weekend.
It was only a sixty minute ride, all zone 1 by level of effort, although my heart rate was all zone 3-4. That's what illness will do to you. Maybe I won't be able to pace myself off HR during Worlds.
Right now, I'm just trying to get myself right. Not much else I can do at this point. This isn't quite how I wanted to end my season, but it is what I have to deal with.
Bike: 60 minutes, zone 1 (effort), zone 3-4 (HR)

That is some seriously lousy timing. Take it easy and get yourself better for the big race.
I wonder if it is a known physiological process that athletes' immune systems become weakened during a taper after hard training?
In any case, I'm knocking on wood here that you're now fit, healthy and ready to kick some ass.
